Thank You for Protecting Me

Thank You to Our Military

This is a beautiful sunny Sunday here in Maryland.  So peaceful. Not a worry in the world.  This day is truly a masterpiece created by God.

God created this beautiful day and my surroundings and my life and all things.  Our brothers and sisters in uniform put their lives on the line everyday to preserve it and make it possible for me to enjoy it.

My very dear friend, Bruce Salisbury sent this video to me.  It brings up deep feelings within me, so strong and so humbling, that all I can say is "Thank you!  Thank you with all my heart.  Thank you for putting it all on the line everyday to keep me free.  Job well done!"

I think the following video is appropriate at this time.

Great web site. As I was browsing I started thinking about a good friend of mine. In fact I am going to Queens, New York this weekend to rename a street after him in his honor.

His name is Jeff Calero, we went to Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute together for four years, and were commissioned together in May 96. We ended up going to FT Benning together for Infantry Officer Basic Course, Airborne and finally Ranger school together. We spent many long nights of walking through Georgia together because he was my “Ranger Buddy”.

Eventually we went our separate ways. Jeff went to Korea and I went to FT Bragg. Jeff decided to join the Special Forces. While on his second deployment to Afghanistan he was killed by and IED.

The day he was killed his team was patrolling in one of the most dangerous provinces in Afghanistan, Helmand Province. His patrol approached a suspect piece of terrain and halted his team. He then proceeded to recon the suspect area and was killed. In the process saving his team.

Jeff is one of my many heroes. I’m glad his home towm of Queens, NY will honor his memory this weekend.
